SEALED SYSTEM LOW SIDE LEAK ERROR

Cause

Low side refrigerant leak (Evaporator), possible bad compressor, customer may have had the door open for a long time…etc.

Solution

Troubleshooting and inspection must be done to find the root cause of this error code.

DETAILS BELOW:

SEALED SYSTEM LOW SIDE LEAK

Use SVC App to determine if compressor or sealed system problem.
If SVC App is not available, check temperature using temperature gun.

In a Low Side leak, the pressures do not follow each other.

The Low Side will be in a vacuum and the High Side will be higher than normal depending on the amount of non-condensables in the system.
Example: 20inHg LS and 175PSIG HS

Refrigerator Low Side Leak Symptoms

  • Elevated pressures
  • Higher than normal amp draw
  • Higher than normal voltage to the compressor
  • 6 Blink code on Inverter / Main PCB

Testing / Evaluation

In order to test for a Low Side Leak, the system needs to be pressurized with nitrogen and bubble-tested.
Remember that aluminum evaporators should not exceed 200 PSI.  Most leaks in the low side will show up with 150-200 PSI of pressure applied.

COMMON LOW SIDE LEAK POINTS

1) Argon Weld Leak

2) Copper-Aluminum Joint

3) Between the fins from Solder / Brazing Splatter

How to Clear the Error Code if Needed:

Below are the direct instructions from the factory.

The code should go away on its own after 24 hours of the unit reaching 14 degrees F or below after the unit is successfully repaired. If it does not go away after 24 hours and the temperature is staying below 14 degrees you can force it off by pressing Freezer and Refrigerator buttons at the same time 3 Times with the fridge door open…..

※ Freezer temperature is 14℉↓(After a day of SVC), the error code(E CH, E CL) disappears.
But, If temperature(sealed system) is normal and Error CH or CL displays continuously,
please press error forced deletion button.

※Error(CH or CL) forced deletion button(*Customer complaint rise and algorithm problem etc.)
F key + R key(3times) with the door open

  1. RNN231205056797
Customer move unit Found unit room temperature low 45psi high 75psi equalized 55psi replace compressor

  2. CL error code nor going away… tried the F&R three times with the door open and it’s still there. Tried updating the PCB and it’s still there….

    1. The code should go away on its own after 24 hours of the unit reaching 14 degrees F or below after the unit is successfully repaired.

  3. E CL error , In Cambodia found root cause from too much dusty at condenser .
To solve this error just unplug power and make big cleaning on condenser after that the refrigerator will operation normal.

    1. The CL error should go away after approximately 24 hours if the unit is cooling properly. If it is not going away make sure the unit is cooling to set temp. if it is cooling and you still have the error replace the Main PCB.
