HIGH PRESSURE SWITCH ERROR
Cause
Unit overheating / Restricted Airflow.
Solution
Check for fan obstruction causing reduced airflow.
Check for dirty condenser coil.
Check for proper installation.
Cause
Faulty Pressure Switch
Solution
Ohm test Pressure Switch to make sure it is closed.
DETAILS BELOW:
*If the pressure switch trips ten times, the switch will shut the unit down and display the error code.
*The pressure switch will trip if the internal pressure is too high; this is usually caused by the unit overheating.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
Outside Clearance: If there is not enough outside clearance (bushes, decorative fence, etc), the hot exhaust air can be directed back into the unit. Make sure there is nothing within 20″ behind the unit (preferably 24-36 inches).
2. Air Flow Blockage: With the unit unplugged from power source, check for blockage on the outdoor fan. Make sure nothing is inside the shroud stopping the fan from moving (possible fan hitting the shroud or foreign matter inside the shroud area stopping the fan from spinning). While the unit is unplugged, also check the outdoor coil (between the coil and the fan) to make sure the coil is clean and clear of obstructions (dirt, dust, build-up, etc.)
3. Switch failure: If the unit immediately displays error code from a power cycle (thus, not having time to overheat and trip ten times).
4. (TTW- Through-The-Wall Units only): Make sure the unit was installed properly. Check that a properly sized sleeve is being used and that the foam strip at the back is installed correctly. Failure to install correctly can cause airflow issues resulting in the pressure switch tripping. Please see owner’s manual if installation is in question for proper cabinet specs.
