SEALED SYSTEM HIGH SIDE LEAK ERROR

Cause

High side refrigerant leak, restriction, bad comp, bad valve, etc.

Solution

Troubleshooting and inspection must be done to find the root cause of this error code.

Cause

Bad Defrost Sensor.

Solution

Test the defrost sensor to see if it is reading out of range. If so, replace defective sensor.

DETAILS BELOW:

How to Clear the Error Code if Needed:

Below are the direct instructions from the factory.

The code should go away on its own after 24 hours of the unit reaching 14 degrees F or below after the unit is successfully repaired. If it does not go away after 24 hours and the temperature is staying below 14 degrees you can force it off by pressing Freezer and Refrigerator buttons at the same time 3 Times with the fridge door open…..

※ Freezer temperature is 14℉↓(After a day of SVC), the error code(E CH, E CL) disappears.
But, If temperature(sealed system) is normal and Error CH or CL displays continuously,
please press error forced deletion button.

※Error(CH or CL) forced deletion button(*Customer complaint rise and algorithm problem etc.)

  1. The rubberized pipe start breaking because the heat and time and water comes in the rubber by the pipe and save it there then pipe inside starts to really break down and get completely rust damage

  2. How does the refrigerator know there’s a leak if there are no pressure sensors in the system? If it’s based on amperage, then what’s the difference between a high side and low side leak in terms of what it would be reading?

    1. Its an algorithm programmed into the board and so far has shown to be very accurate. There are several parameters that are looked at. But to answer the question about amperage… With a Low side leak you are sucking in air and moisture and your Compressor amperage and voltage will increase due to the contaminates in the system causing extra strain on the compressor. This happens because a Low Side Leak is on the Suction side of the system. With a High side leak you are losing refrigerant but not bringing in any air/moisture to the system because the hi side is always pushing out, unless the unit not running that is. High side leaks will show a decrease in amperage and voltage as the compressor is doing much less work with the lack of refrigerant in the system. So Low Side Leak= Higher Amperage than normal, High Side Leak= Less Amperage than normal.
