DRYER THERMISTOR OUT OF RANGE or TOO HOT ERROR

Cause

Heater is not working because the thermostat tripped by overheating or abnormal voltage.

‘tE3” error code informs customer the heater is not working properly. (not heating)

Solution

Check for low voltage supplied.

Condensing dryers are 240 Volts ac and will have an instant tE3 Error if customer has connected unit to a 120 Volts ac circuit.

Check the heater assy high thermistor (TH2) resistance value for 200kΩ ±10% (at 77ºF)

DETAILS BELOW:

Check the customer’s power suppy (Wall Outlet)

If the voltage between L1 & L2 is less than 200V ac it will cause a “tE3” Error code.

3 wire customer's supply voltage check at the receptacle

4 wire customer's supply voltage check at the receptacle

Clean the lint filter & condenser to prevent overheating of the heater. Lint & foreign objects block the air flow. Also check the air intake in the back for blockage. This will cause the heater to overheat. Some newer models of condensing dryers do not have a condenser that is removable and will instead have a condenser care function which will clean the condenser automatically when activated. See owners manual for proper procedures.

Check the heater assembly high thermistor (TH2) resistance value: 200k ±10% (at 77ºF)

Check the heater coils resistance values: Inner coil yellow wire to white wire = 28.96Ω ±10% Outer coil blue wire to white wire = 56.29 ±10%

Below is a picture of the condensing dryer heater assy which includes the thermistor.
