The unit senses the Thermistor is bad or out of range.
Solution
Visually check for loose connections or damage to harness. Also check the thermistor for proper resistance values.
DETAILS BELOW:
Check Connections at Thermistor. (on some models the thermistor is part of the Heater assembly, others will have a stand-alone thermistor part # 6322FR2046C).
Check resistance or voltage value from main board. When checking resistance unplug the harness from the board.
If the thermistor is reading open from the Main board, then check the reading at the thermistor. If you now have a correct reading, your harness may be faulty, if you are still reading open or an out-of-range reading, replace the thermistor.
•If the voltage measured across the thermistor is greater than 4.5Vdc the tE error will be triggered because the board is reading an open circuit.
•If the voltage measured across the thermistor is less than 0.5Vdc thetEerror will be triggered because the board is reading a shorted circuit.

WHEN INSTALLING A NEW HEATING ELEMENT
* If on your Washer model, your Heating Element is located in the FRONT of the WASHER … (one of them being WM2650hWA) … you will not only need to remove THE CONTROL PANEL and complete FRONT COVER from the washer. You will ALSO need to remove the Front Counter Weight to get good enough clear access to the Heating Element area in order to apply enough sufficient even manual pressure to the face of the New Heating Element itself while tightening the bolt that expands the SEAL Otherwise you may be more apt to discover a leak at that SEAL later.
* If on your Washer model, your Heating Element is located in the FRONT of the WASHER … (one of them being WM4400) … you need to remove THE CONTROL PANEL and complete FRONT COVER from the washer. You will ALSO need to loosen the 3/8 nut on yhe front of the heating element then push the shaft in when the nut has been loosened with a punch type shaft and a small hammer I used a 1/2 wrench extension, then the heating element will pull right out. Just push the new one in place and hold it down while fighting the 3/8″ nut.
