FILTER MISSING ERROR

Cause

An “IF” (IF) error code will display, and the machine will not start if the lint filter is left out of the machine. A magnet embedded in the lint filter activates the reed switch mounted internally in the plastic housing of the vent duct.

Solution

Check for lint filter installed and if not then properly install the filter.

Check lint filter reed switch for continuity.

The picture below is from the WM6998 Washer combo and the lint filter is on top of the unit body. This should be pulled out and cleaned by customer and re-installed to run or you will get the IF error code.

There should be 5Vdc on the Main PCB till the filter is installed then it should go to 0Vdc. You can check with a meter and pull the switch out and check it for continuity when a magnet is placed on it for testing.
